NASCAR Sprint All-Star Race Breakdown
At the start of the first segment Carl Edwards was in the lead but Kyle Busch was trying to pass him all the time. They were in battle for the top two places while Harvick and Gordon battled for third and fourth. By lap 10 Busch managed to take the lead and Gordon got into second place, with Edwards falling back to fifth place. Jimmie Johnson and Kasey Kahne then competed for fifth spot. When the caution fell at the end of the segment positions were Kyle Busch leading from Gordon, Harvick, Kahne, Edwards, Johnson, Bowyer, Earnhardt Jr, Kenseth and Logano.
Hamilton led the race in fort of Busch to the pit road with Keselowski, Newman and Busch winning the race form the pot road. So with Hamlin in the lead there was a fight for places going on behind him. Busch got a caution for getting it to the back of Bowyer and hitting Logano, who was then out of the race. There was restart when Biffle and Vickers took a wide turn and hit Allmendinger off the track and there was a second caution. Then Harvick, Wise, Newman, McMurray and Keselowski hit the pit road. After the restart Kahne got in to the lead from Edwrads and led the rest of the segment. He then went to the pit road but McMurray, Kenseth, Keselowski and Truex Jr stayed on the track.
The third segment started with Biffle and Earnhardt Jr leading but Kahne got to the front having got four new tyres in the pit and managed to take the lead from McMurray. He ended up in the lead with Harvick, McMurray, Keselowski, Kenseth, Johnson, Earnhardt Jr, Gordon, Vickers and Truex behind him.
In the pits between segments McMurray had two new tyres and won the race off followed by Keselowski, Johnson and Buschwho also had two and Harvck and Kahne had four. So McMurray led the fourth segment and Gordon had something fall off his car on turn 3 and he knocked together with Truex Jr and they brought down Biffle to produce a caution. On the restart McMurray got in to the lead and there was a fight for second position between Edwards, Busch, Keselowski and Harvick. Kahne caught his car on the wall blaming an oily track but there was no caution this time. McMurray and Harvick battled for first position and Harvock got the lead on turn three, lap 76. Then Kahne’s tyre gave out, he hit a wall and the segment was pretty much over.
Harvick then led in to the pit road followed by McMurray, Johnson, Earnhardt Jr, Edwards, Kenseth, Keselowski, Vickers, Nusch, Bowyer, Hamlin, Ragan and Wise. Edwards won the race off followed by McMurray, Harvick, Kenseth, Johnson, Earnhardt Jr, Hamlin, Bowyer, Busch, Vickers, Keselowski, Steward, Wise and Kahne. McMurray battled hard for the lead but was able to get himself into a good position with eight laps to go. Harvick amanged to take second place from Edwards but was never able to reach McMurray who won his first ever Sprint All-Star race.
The final results were as follows : McMurray, Harvick, Kenseth, Earnhardt Jr, Edwards, Johnson, Bowyer, Vickers, Hamlin, Keselowski, Busch, Stewart, Ragan, Kahne, Wise, Newman, Gordon, Truex Jr, Biffle, Allemendinger, Busch, Logano.
