Preview for NASCAR Race at Michigan This Sunday
It was two years ago when Dale Earnhardt Jr managed to win at Michigan after a long losing streak. He is one of the most popular drivers on the NASCAR circuit and it is thought that he might be able to get victory again this week there. He has already won twice this season so has confirmed his place in the Chase but would like to win again, to add to those two victories and three second places. He admits that he has fun winning and would really like to do it again as soon as possible, like this weekend.
It was back in 2004 at Pocono when he won more than once in a season for the first time. He managed to win twice at Michigan in his career.
Earnhardt hired Brad Keselowski to drive for JR Motorsports in the Nationwide Series. They now have a rivalry developing but they remain friends but have just ended up competing closely this season with Keselowski coming second and third when Earnhardt won races and when he did win one, Earnhardt came second. Keselowski is also from Michigan so would really like to win there, having never won there before.
Chevrolet and Hendrick Motorsports have won the last four races and so Keselowski will want to put an end to that by trying to win himself as well as giving his team owner, Roger Penske a victory for consecutive years as other team member Joey Logano won it last year. He explained that it is great for their team owner that he has two cars racing that have good chances of doing well and it makes him give more to NASCAR and helps the team to continue to flourish.
Rousch Fenway Racing is also hoping to add to the 13 victories it has had in the past here. So far their only win was when Carl Edwards won Bristol but it is possible that Biffle, who has already won four times on this course could win, but Edwards could also be a contender. Jimmie Johnson has never won on this track and so could be very motivated to have a go this time. Jeff Gordon is the points leader and so could do well, although he has only had one win this season. Matt Kenseth in second position could also do well especially with two victories on this course in the past. To add to the excitement there is also the thrill of the high speeds that can be got up to on this course especially with records being broken in qualifying.
