Preview for NASCAR Weekend at Bristol
Bristol Motor Speedway will welcome NASCAR this weekend and it is set to be an exciting one. The Chase is looming ever nearer for the Sprint Cup racers and they will want to keep securing as many wins as they can (or a first in many cases) to help to secure their places. With the track at Bristol being so very different to the one used last week at Texas it could be a telling time for the drivers.
Texas track is 1.5 miles and Bristol is just half a mile. This will need that the 500 laps will need a completely different strategy for reams and they will need to be patient. Carl Edwards is the defending champion, having won four races on the track but Brad Keselowski has already notched up two wins in his last ten races here.
The races on the track include the Xfinity Series as well as the Sprint Cup drivers. The Xfinity drivers will practice on Friday afternoon twice and then the Sprint Cup drivers will get one. On Saturday there will be two Sprint practices in the morning and the Xfinity series drivers will do their qualifying between the two sessions and their 300 lap race early afternoon. The Sprint Cup race will be on Sunday at lunchtime.
Last year the race was hampered by rain and mechanical problems and some main drivers being taken out in a wreck from a blown engine. We will have to see whether this years race will prove to be so exciting.
