Joe Gibbs Racing has been on a roll by outperforming the rest of the racers in the qualifying game that took places on the Dover race track. Denny Hamlin of Joe Gibbs racing took the top spot and will head the race on Sunday’s FedEx race. Hamlin managed to inch ahead of Martin Truex Jr. with a slightly higher speed during the time trial. Hamlin’s win has just been his first one for the season putting him in a positive light. Of course Hamlin has covered many over his career accumulating 21 wins so far.
Hamlin seemed rather confident about his team as he stated that while they are yet to take the grand prize, they have shown a great level of competition. Hamlin also went on to say that the location suited him personally, adding that he considers to be a serious competitor for Sunday’s race.
Other Joe Gibbs Racing contenders also managed to secure the top 10. While Joe Gibbs Racing hasn’t had the greatest luck with their Toyota engines, they have come back strong. Despite the issues with their automobiles, things haven’t slowed down for them. Kenseth also chimed in speaking of their cars performing equally well with hope for Sunday.
With several notable qualifications, two serious contenders who managed to miss qualification include Jeff Green and Travis Kvapil.
