Late race contact between last week’s Indy 500 Pole winner, Alex Tagliani and former NCTS Champion Andrew Ranger wrecked Tagliani’s car and brought out the caution forcing a Green/White/Checker finish. NASCAR penalized Ranger for agressive driving which handed the lead to Robin Buck who was running third at the time of the incident. Buck would hold of series point leader Scott Steckly for the win. “It was a bit of a gift, but we were in a position to capitalize when everything happened,” said Buck. “It was a great race for us. I’ve wanted to win one of these for a while,” via nascar.com. Oddly enough, Ranger and Tagliani are teammates, but you wouldn’t have known that at the time of the incident. In fact, it is reported that Tagliani spoke to reporters after the race commenting about his displeasure of his teammate’s actions. More notably however is the “I’ll destroy you” comment made to Ranger by fellow competitior DJ Kennington about Ranger’s ‘driving style’.
