Nelson Piquet Jr will make his first Sprint Cup start this weekend. The former Formula One driver will be racing for the Randy Humphrey Racing team at Watkins Glen International. The driver has already taken part in the Truck Series with 54 starts since 2010 and debuted in Nationwide series in 2012 at Watkins Glen. He finished in the top ten in 2012 his success included a pole and victory at Toad America which was his third Nationwide race. He has been competing in the Red Bull Global Rallycross this year for SH Racing and he leads the drivers competition by 46 points after half the races. He will continue with that competition after his guest appearance in the Sprint Cup this weekend. He explained that he has always wanted to do the Watkins Glen race as part of the Sprint Cup since his debut there in 2010 when he had first started. He said that he is extremely grateful to many people for giving him the opportunity to take part This included Randy Humphrey, Bray Pemberton and WORX Yard Tools. Humphrey explained that Piquet Jr is a very experienced driver and that spans across many types of races. He said he excels at all levels and therefore his Sprint Cup debut is very exciting as well.
Milka Duno will have a run in the Nationwide Series as part of the RAB racing team. She will become the first Hispanic female driver to compete in a NASCAR National series in the United States and will therefore make history. She has had experience in other racing car series including IndyCar, ARCA, American Le Mans and Grand-Am Rolex Series. She explained that she is excited and honoured to be able to have an opportunity at the NASCAR Nationwide series and explained that she has been working hard in ARCA in order to make this a reality. She went on to say that NASCAR is popular and competitive and that is why she is proud to be part of it. She will be taking part in selective races through the 2014 season but it has not yet been announced how many she will compete in.
