NASCAR announced last Thursday that an official warning has been imposed on 5 teams. The teams in question include those of Joey Logan, Paul Menard and Dale Earnhardt Jr. among others. The teams failed to pass the routine tests for qualification.
These teams failed not once but twice at the pre-qualifying and pre-race analysis. The Rule Book has a number of conditions and ways of dealing with penalties. A penalty is imposed when a team receives two warnings as in the case of these five teams.
Penalties range from low priority for pit selection, deducting time for qualification as well as practice time. If a team requires a third inspection, they will be liable to loss of practice team in the next week due to time lost by officials for inspection.
